A single visual language for every Chloeta map and report, unified across the Liberty Mutual Dashboard, OH Ops, and Field Maps, and built on the dashboard's own design language. Each direction below is a complete, internally-consistent system. Pick a direction and we take it into refinement.

The framework

Organized by workflow, not as a flat list

Every symbol answers the question "what is it used for" first. The set sorts into two buckets, and the guiding goal is to reduce map overload: fewer, more meaningful icons, with the detail living in reports.

A · Progressive
One mark that builds across stages
A symbol that adds to and evolves itself as a situation moves through its stages, never switching to a different symbol and never just growing in size. Two progressions: Monitoring (Smoke Check Log) and Assignment.
B · Static
Standalone symbols that do not progress
Risk buffers, perimeters, PIF pivot points, engine coverage, not-monitored states, and the report deliverable icons. Consistent stroke, corner, and grid with the progressive set, but no lifecycle.

Fire engine, redesigned
The response mark is Chloeta's real vehicle, a white pickup, not a ladder-truck toy.
PIF visibility fixed
A white keyline makes Safeco blue and Liberty Mutual purple hold on green terrain.
Zoom-level clustering
Hundreds of overlapping policies collapse into brand-colored counts. Live demo on each page.
Hotspots kept distinct
Satellite detections stay industry-standard; Chloeta gets its own non-conflicting mark.
Flames by solidity, not size
Open-source flame markers keep their shape; significance now reads through opacity.
Overlays stay legible
A loss over a survey point, a unit in its buffer, clusters over rings. Three proofs per page.
Reads at 4 to 24 px
Live size slider on each page proves legibility at true map sizes.
Grayscale and colorblind safe
Shape and fill carry meaning, so no symbol depends on color alone.

Is the Dedicated Service education vs prepositioned distinction worth its own state, or should it collapse into one?
What we recommend eliminating
Five Dedicated-Service status icons (60-day access, QC, and historical states) collapse into one Surveyed mark, with the detail living in the report. The unpleasant-interaction icon and the redundant grey states come off the map. Threat stops scaling by size. The net effect is roughly a third fewer symbols on a busy fire, with no two icons that mean the same thing.
