One mark evolves through every stage. It adds to itself rather than swapping symbols, so an operator reads both the family and the step at a glance.
Phase 1 · Monitoring — Smoke Check Log
Automation flags it, a person reviews it, a threat level is assigned. Escalation adds a detection ring and steps up the severity color. No-threat fades to a cleared ghost, then drops off the map.

Phase 2 · Assignment
Starts at a policy point, branches by assignment type, records one survey, and ends in a save or a loss. The policy core carries an anchor stem so it reads as a located asset, distinct from the ring-only intel marks above.
These do not progress. Policy pins carry a white halo so they never disappear on green terrain, and buffers keep a systematic dashed ring at every distance.

Satellite hotspots stay industry-standard, so Chloeta gets its own distinct detection mark that will not be mistaken for them. Open-source flame markers keep their silhouette but now encode significance through solidity, not size.

Five Dedicated-Service status icons (60-day access, QC, historical states) collapse into a single Surveyed mark. The unpleasant-interaction icon and redundant grey states drop off the map. Threat sizing stops scaling by size. Net: roughly a third fewer symbols on a busy fire, and no two icons that mean the same thing.
