One recommended system, built from the best of all five round-one concepts. It leans into Gauge so a single mark shows progress and status at the same time, and it borrows Signal's phase split so the two workflows never blur together: Phase 1 is circles, Phase 2 is location pins. Every pin carries a progress ring with a small center glyph for where it is in its lifecycle, and every mark is proofed on a real satellite map.

Icons that build across a workflow
The arc fills and the color steps up as a situation escalates or a job completes, so one mark carries both the family and the stage. Monitoring uses circles; Assignment uses pins.
Automation flags it, a person reviews it, a threat level is assigned. The dial fills clockwise and steps up in color. Response Recommended is the peak of the circle family — the same dial, filled solid red with a solid center dot, not a vehicle.

Every marker gets a 1–2 px white outline on the map. Loss X sits on top with a white keyline. Buffers render beneath points. Center glyphs keep clear space, never touch the edge.
